Silk Title and Escrow, LLC d/b/a Silk Abstract Company LLC (“Silk”) is licensed wherever required, and to the extent allowed by law, authorized to conduct the business of title Insurance in Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, The District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. The company does business as Silk Abstract Company LLC in Michigan, New York, North Dakota, and Pennsylvania; as Silk Title Agency LLC in Arizona; as Silk Title Ohio LLC in Ohio; as Silk Title Nevada LLC in Nevada; and as Silk Title Utah LLC in Utah

Certain states (such as Kentucky) do not have title insurance licensing but allow for appointments and the conduct of closings in those states. In such cases, Silk complies with the applicable state law.

There are certain states where Silk is licensed, but the closing and other aspects of the title insurance business are handled by attorneys, pursuant to state law. Examples of such states are Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and West Virginia. Each attorney state has unique requirements. Silk works with attorneys in those states that require the use of an attorney, to make sure that the company is operating in compliance with state law.

Silk is authorized to conduct the business of title insurance in Vermont and Wisconsin utilizing licenses obtained by its licensed employees in those states.

The State of Massachusetts does not have title insurance licensing for agencies, but does require using an attorney for the closing. Silk is appointed in this state for the purposes of issuing title insurance and complies with applicable state law by using a Massachusetts attorney for all portions of the closing and related services that have to be conducted by an attorney.

Silk utilizes partnerships with appropriately licensed entities to fulfill requests for title and closing services for states where it is not authorized or licensed to conduct the business of title insurance and/or closings.
